FameThrowa, you will be pleased to know that today we purchased a new DVD player.
Sadly, however, our new PVR seems to be having trouble syncing up the sound with the picture, which was the problem with our old DVD player. It figures.
Happily, however, I just learned that our new set of satellite channels gets Veronica Mars, so now I can finally check out the show that has been widely touted as “the new Buffy.”
Sadly, however, we somehow neglected to record Lost last night, so I am without my fix — grrr.
Happily, however, the next season of The Amazing Race begins next Tuesday.
Ah, a girl and her television — a classic tale of the ages.
New DVD player: Yay!
PVR problem: Boo! Is it a known issue? Is there a fix?
Veronica Mars: Yay! You’ll have to tell me how you like it.
Lost: Boo! Do you want me to get it off the Interweb?
New Amazing Race: Yay!
So glad you’re going to be able to get Veronica Mars. It had me at episode 1. She’s smart and sassy. If this is what Buffy was like, I missed out on something good. More people need to watch it so hopefully it won’t get cancelled.
Glad to hear that you have PVR — I’m sure you’ll get the kinks worked out, although not likely without hours talking to customer “support” 😦
I’ll update our movie list and send it to you so you can start borrowing stuff from us, if you’d like.
I’m not sure if the sync problem is known or not — when gets through his enormous list of stuff to do around the house, I’m sure he will be curious enough to look into it, unlike me. However, I did find a workaround — there’s a 30-second-jump-forward button, and a 5-second-jump-back button, and if you use the jump-back button, it seems to re-sync it. I think the out-of-sync problem maybe happens when you use the jump-forward button too many times in a row.
tells me that Veronica Mars rocks. I’ve heard it’s a lot like Buffy in terms of tone and style, and the way it uses an unusual theme (solving mysteries, in particular the murder of Veronica’s best friend) as a mirror for high school woes. Should be good.
And as for Lost, sure, go for Interweb if it’s not too much trouble. Watching The O.C. on Interweb download almost beats PVR!
Yeah, already hates Bell customer support. We had some trouble getting the PVR up and running and no one on their support line was at all helpful. I’m still experiencing the rosy glow of PVR joy since I didn’t have to deal with them.
As for Veronica Mars, I’m really excited about it. In general I’m impressed at how much TV has improved in the past year. Last year I remember I was despairing at the state of TV, and how no new programs were at all interesting to me. This year there’s Lost, Desperate Housewives, Jack & Bobby, and Veronica Mars that I already love. Original programs with cool characters and settings — many of them at once — it’s almost too much!
Speaking of interesting programs, Lance Armstrong (and girlfriend Sheryl Crow) will be featured on the November 30 episode of “Overhaulin'” on TLC. I think it’s a show where they do some sort of car fixing up, and they will be doing Lance’s car. That guy is bona fide celebrity now!
Sounds good!
