Last week, on my birthday, FameThrowa came over and I excitedly announced, “I got a labeller!”
She snorted and said, “Why?”
Why, you ask? WHY???
Because a large portion of my house looks like this:

or this:

or this:

I love to organize and I have long dreamed of a day when I did not have to use crappy masking tape labels to mark all my beautiful containers full of stuff.
And now, a select few small parts of my house look like this:

In close up:

Sigh. So lovely, it brings a tear to my eye.
I also got Ken Jennings’ book, Braniac, which I am enjoying, when I can find it. It seems that Sir Monkeypants is also more than a bit interested in what KenJen has to say.
Oh. My. God.
The neatness! The crisp Helevetica font! I’m filled with covetous awe! Where did you get your labeler? Tell me that I might label too!
Oh, that IS beautiful! *admires with you*
Well, it was a gift, but I have some insider info that says it came from Staples. It’s a Brother P-touch — exactly what I always wanted!
And now, I am off to label :).
If I got Tania one of those I think she’d probably marry me. Again.
But then I’d be running the risk of allowing something like “split mung” into the house. Seriously: what the hell is split mung? Sounds awful. Even worse than whole mung. Seriously. Get that shit out of your kitchen.
Such is what happens when you marry a vegetarian! Actually the split mung is pretty tasty.
I stand in awe of your organizational skills. I’d ask you to come over and organize our apartment but we wouldn’t be able to keep it up after you’d left.
When I was kid, I was so envious of my cousins’ Dymo label maker. Remember the one that was kind of shaped like a Star Trek phaser, with a disc you spun to choose the letters, and the letters were punched out on thick red or black plastic tape?
Anyway, for years I told how I yearned for a Dymo label maker. I think he thought I was joking, but a few years ago he bought one for me. Of course, it’s very different now, with a digital display, choices of fonts and type size, but it is just awesome. When I’m not looking, I know sneaks in a few labels of his own.
I must say that, from your pictures, your house looked super-organized even before you got the label maker, but the professional labelling job looks really cool.
Surely you know that I’ve probably used your labelmaker even more than you have…
