I just got back from the craft show and bought the most fabulous apron. Seriously! It is made by two super cool chicks and their company is called Domistyle. If you go to the home page right now you’ll see the one I bought on the right hand side — the brown one with the pink circles — only mine has “will cook for shoes” embroidered in pretty pink type across the top of it.
I love it so much I am really sorry I rushed out to the mall last night to do my Christmas shopping, because one of these would so rock for my sister SocialButterfly, who I have in the gift draw this year. If I get her next year, this is definitely what she is getting. In fact, from now on, any time I need a gift for any woman, this is what she is getting.
If you still have shopping to do…go Domistyle!
Why don’t you return what you got for her at the mall and go back to the craft show and get her the apron? It is a really cool and unique gift!
Don’t feel too bad. I bought SocialButterfly a nice apron from Florence when I was there 5 years ago, so technically she already has one. Not sure if it’s still in good condition, but if you want, I can check that out when I’m down there at Xmas.
It is a great gift idea though.
I think I’ll let it go for this year — my gift from the mall is also really nice (charms for her Italian charm bracelet, in an adorable little case with a fish on top). But I really should have just blown the budget and gotten her the apron too, I think. Sadly, if you bought two, you got a third one for free so I could have had two for myself :). But now, I’d have to pay to get into the show again, plus drive downtown, all for a blow-the-budget gift, so…I better do the reasonable thing :). But next year!
Good to know. I’m kind of into cooking now so I think one cannot have too many aprons. Not only do they make nice full-aprons like I bought but they make awesome little cocktail aprons (the kind that are waist-down only). Soooo adorable! If I get SocialButterfly next year I will get her one then. Actually I think I’ll get one for you or LittleSis too :).
When I was working out convinced me that cute workout gear would make me want to go running, and it’s so true. So I figure cute aprons will make me want to cook. Maybe I will collect the whole set!
Oh, I thought you meant LittleSis. I mean, I got mixed up on whose name you had in the draw. It’s LittleSis that I gave the apron to. SocialButterfly doesn’t have one, to my knowledge.
Ugh, my brain is soooo tired. I’ve been making bone-headed mistakes like this all week. To much working and socializing!
Oh, the other gift sounds excellent, too. Good plan to stick with what you got her, considering everything. It must be nice to have a gift “in the hopper” for next year.
Yesterday when I finished my shopping I sort of blew the budget on the last gift I purchased since it would mean I would be done. I figured it was well worth the extra $10 to not have to shop for anything else.
I hear that. When and I were planning our wedding, it eventually got so stressful that we invented a new rule. He would say, “Can this problem be solved by throwing money at it?” and I would say, “Yes,” and he would say, “Then throw money at it!” It’s a serious stress reliever — we have used this idea often to resolve really stressful situations.
I think is now applying this philosophy to her new home :).
often gave us the same advice re: spending money and it’s some of the soundest advice I’ve ever received from anyone. It’s definitely a mantra of ours ( is a big fan of it) and has probably saved our relationship more than once!
The apron is very nice — definitely the sexiest apron I’ve ever seen. Are you actually going to wear it to cook in? Or will you just put it on when the dinner party guests arrive?
It’s machine wash and dry, so I plan to actually use it for cooking. Heaven knows I am the messiest cook in the world, so usually I am wearing samples of everything I’ve prepared in the day — so the new apron will definitely get used. I already wore it today to make lunch (although, I admit, I was so protective of it that I didn’t make anything messy and kept it sparkling clean).
Besides, if I get it stained and dirty…it’s an excuse to get another one! Maybe I’ll get one of the cute cocktail styles (from the waist down only) to wear for parties. It’s a new fashion trend!
Now that is awesome. I had no idea that our little phrase was catching on. Lately I’ve been thinking about using it for evil instead of good. It’ll probably go something like this:
SMP: I’m really stressed!
TH: Why? What’s wrong?
SMP: I’ve been thinking about what to do with this small spot of goo I got on my car seat. I just don’t know what to do. It’s really quite a pickle.
TH: Well, can you solve it by throwing money at it?
SMP: Yes I can.
TH: Then do it!
SMP: You’re right. Getting that new uber expensive sports car that will probably bankrupt us is definitely the right answer. I already feel so much better. Thanks for understanding honey.
That’s funny — every time I quote that advice I get a dirty look from you! (But I know you agree)
